SHORTS - The Best of International Rocketship

Bambi Meets Godzilla Title Plate
Marv Newland, a Canadian animator from the west coast of Canada, has done a limited DVD press run of the best animated shorts produced at his company, International Rocketship.  I found out about this when reading Jerry Beck's Cartoon Brew post about it.

Marv first garnered international acclaim with his short Bambi Meets Godzilla, which he made to graduate from the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design in 1969.  According to Karen Mazurkewich in her book, Cartoon Capers, Marv had to make a final film to graduate and the film he wanted to make called for a sunset.  When it rained for two weeks straight he was forced to come up with another idea, which became the cult hit Bambi Meets Godzilla.

That's just a taste of the animated amazingness contained within this DVD compilation.  According to Jerry Beck, whom Marv sent a copy of the DVD to, other films included are "Anijam, Lupo The Butcher, Black Hula, Sing Beast Sing, Pink Komkommer, Bambi Meets Godzilla and more".
