COMPETITIONS - ‘Simpsons’ contest lets Canadians compete to create couch gag for season finale

The Simpsons has been one of the most influential adult animated television series in the world and now there's a chance for any Canadian with imagination to pitch their couch gag idea and have it shown during the Canadian Simpsons season finale.

Each pitch must be fifty words or less and only one pitch can be submitted per person.

The competition started on December 5th, 2012 and will run until December 24th, 2012 and is being sponsored by Global TV. The top three pitches will be chosen to enter an online vote battle royal starting Jan 22, 2013 and ending Feb 11, 2013. The winning entry will be shown during the Canadian airing of the Simpson's season finale.

“We are thrilled to be bringing this exclusive contest to Global viewers,” said Jason Keown, Senior Director of Marketing, Global TV. “Canada loves The Simpsons and this is an incredible opportunity for fans to engage with the series, its creators and with one another in paying tribute to the show.”

The winner will also be granted a trip to L.A. to check out Film Roman, The Simpsons' animation studio. While there they will get a chance to sit in on a table read of a Simpsons episode with the show's cast and producers. As a bonus perk they will also receive a special prize pack and a one-of-a-kind illustration from the winning couch gag and $500 spending money.

The two runners up get The Simpsons™ swag bag and a “Simpsonized” sketch of the Finalist's likeness.
