FESTIVALS - Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema (WFAC) 2012

Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema (WFAC) 2012 website is now online
For those who have not attended the Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema (which is held each year at in the Waterloo, Ontario), let me say this, you are missing out on an amazing animation event!  The films and filmmakers that Joseph Chen is able to bring to this festival are amazing.  I attended the festival in 2010 and got a chance to meet with several amazing artists while there - two of which were Gari Bardin and Brent Green.  I also got to see the animated feature film RedLine, which contains animation that still inspires me to this day.  I have no doubt that this years festival will be of the same caliber as the previous years and urge any fans of animation who may be on the fence about attending to make the time to go.

One additional note, Joseph Chen celebrates and showcases the best Japanese anime feature films at WFAC before they become available in the North American market.  One example of this being RedLine, which I was unable to purchase and study until 2012, even though I'd seen it in 2010 at WFAC.

The most interesting Anime film in this years line up, in terms of style, is Asura. Asura uses a unique combination of 3D and 2D animation to bring a rich world to life with complex 3D camera moves that would be far too time consuming to create using only 2D animation techniques.
