EVENTS - Signe Baumane is visiting Toronto!

Signe Baumae is on her way to Toronto this weekend and will be screening several of her films at an animation event presented by the Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS!)

Signe is a member of Square Footage Films in New York and has distinguished herself as a female indie animator of note.  If you're in Toronto this weekend drop by Cinecycle (129 Spadina Ave) at 7pm to participate in a screening and discussion with Signe about her work.

Baumane is also known for her Battle of the Sexes debates with Bill Plympton.  That is something I would love to see. Maybe next year Signe and Bill can both come to Toronto and continue their debate here?  That would be amazing.

The Toronto Animated Image Society is proud to present, live, in person, Signe Baumane from New York City. She’ll be screening her award winning animated films “Birth”, “Teat Beat of Sex”, “Dentist”, “Love Story”, along with a sneak peek at excerpts from her upcoming feature film “Rocks In My Pockets”.

Born in Latvia, educated in Moscow, Signe Baumane lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Her 14 short films have been screened and received numerous awards at prestigious international film festivals including the Annecy, Tribeca, Sundance, Berlin, Ottawa, and Venice Film Festivals.

Her films explore life’s challenges, sexuality, myths and phobias.

Signe is a member of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a Fellow in Film from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
